DL12-Hypothesis and Steps

1. Watch the instructional video. 2. On slide #12, we are going to write our Hypothesis and our experiment steps. 3. Write down one sentence that is your guess of what will happen in your experiment. (example- I think that the plane with small wings will go farther) 4. Write down the steps of your experiment (example) Make the Hollinger super dart airplane Make the Dr. Grumble wide wing plane Measure how wide the wings are with a ruler and write it down Fly each plane 3 times from the same location Measure where they land Write this all down 5. You can add a picture if you want as well but the words are most important today. 6. Don't forget to check out the new Animal of the Day video.

DL11 - Experiment Information

1. No Video today as there are some technical issues. 2. The next step in doing an experiment is to gather information. 3. On slide #11 give it the title "Gather Information" 4. Search the internet about the different shapes of wings that planes have. 5. Write down 3-5 facts on how wing shape effects flight. (what do fast wings look like, slower flight and things like that) 6. Post at least one picture of an example of one of the types of wings. 7. Done for now - Don't forget the new Animal of the Day Video!

DL10-Experiment

1. Watch the instructional video below. 2. You will do an experiment with 3 paper airplanes. 3. On slide #10, give the title (State the Problem) 4. On slide #10, you write down one of these three questions to test. - What is the effect of wing shape on flight distance? - What is the effect of wing shape on how long the plane stays in the air. - What is the effect of wing shape on how straight the plane flies. 5. After picking one question, make three paper airplanes that you will test and put their picture on Slide #10 - You can Click Here  to  go back to the site that teaches you how to make some cool paper airplanes 6. Done for now until our next slide! Check out the new Animal of the Day video!

DL9-Aircraft Designers

1. Watch this instructional video.  2. Design an airplane. (two classes to complete) Drawing of the plane from the top and/or side Name of your plane (for example - Hollinger X7 Windduster) Purpose of you plane (scientific research  - scans the rain forests) Specifications (infra-red camera to look for life, oxygen meter to check on air quality, can land like a helicopter or on a runway like a regular plane so it can land in forest areas so we can look for life) 3. Post your drawing and the information on slide #9 4. Check out the new Animal of the Day video below!

DL8-Mon 4.20 - finish airplane

1. Watch the instructional video. 2. Use your science time to finish your airplane mini-project on the airplane of your choice. 3. Click here to go back to the last lesson and see the video. 4. Don't forget to check out the new Animal of the Day!

DL7-Th-4/9-Airplane Choice

1. Watch the instructional video below. 2. Pick one aircraft from our own Flight Museum that you get to take home and fly! Post the picture on slide #7 (click here to go to the virtual Flight Museum) 3. Tell 5 things about your aircraft: What is it called? What company makes it? What is the top speed? What is it used for? What is something interesting about it? 4. Check out the new Animal of the Day Video!

DL-lesson 6-Aeronautics

1. Watch the instructional video below. 2. Go to this website  (click here)  and read about the forces of flight and how things fly (top half of the page). 3. Go back to slide #5 where you took your picture of your paper air 4. Write down which force your paper airplane DOES NOT have when it is flying? 5. Now make slide #6 and title the slide "The Four Forces of Flight" 6. Make a drawing that you think shows which way these forces act on an airplane. 7. Don't forget to check out the new Animal of the Day video!

DL Lesson 5 - Thur 4/2

1. Watch the instructional video below.  2. Make slide #5 titled "Aeronautics" 3. Make some paper airplane designs and take a picture of your top three. Don't forget to give them a name. - Click here for a great website that shows you how to make many different paper airplane designs! 4. You can also make one of those pictures a video (please keep it under 10 seconds long) 5. Check out the new Animal of the Day!
